This ½-day seminar is designed for policy leaders, policy influencers, and
managers of project managers within an organization. The goal of the workshop
is to provide an overview or the project management process and management’
s role in it. Participants are encouraged to use the workshop as a forum for
discussion and as an aid in action planning.

  • The “Triple Constraint” of time, resources, and output.
  • Definition, planning, and clarity of roles are the keys to success.
  • Discussion: What qualifies as a project in this organization?

The link between organizational strategy and projects
  • Projects need to be linked to larger issues in the organization.
  • The importance of a project determines it’s priority for resources.
  • Discussion: Are our projects linked to our strategic goals?

Management’s role
  • Identifying and enforcing priorities.
  • Selecting and supporting project leaders.
  • Mediating conflicts between organizational and project needs.
  • Removing roadblocks to success.
  • Encouraging the use of common tools, techniques, and processes.
  • Discussion: How are we doing and what do we need to change or
    improve?
